that's one of the best parts of racing games is to buy the upgraded parts so your car goes faster or handles better. first thing i noticed was the graphics were good in HD but then i noticed that there is no customization for the cars whatsoever. this game doesnt have that.
The sound design is also excellent. What the crap. Granted in Grid your pit manager becomes a bit repetitious but at least someone is talking to you unlike games that people consider simulation of the racing world. Personally, I had to set the difficulty to the lowest setting to be able to win most of the races (I'm not that good at games). Imagine going in the narrow streets of Milan, Italy at 180 mph. One last point, purist argue that in Grid one cannot customize the limited amount of cars.
Another thing gamers complain about is how difficult Grid is and I must partially agree. You had to race against time for 10:00 minutes in a narrow winding road without ever leaving the pavement. Grid got the best of them all put into one smooth gorgeous looking game(almost movie like realism with the crash animation, cars and environments). They spin out, fly up in the air sometimes--it's funny to see a driver that just passed you do that--and crash.
Grid dispenses with the ordinary vehicles and supplies the drivers with the hottest wheels on the road.Grid is a very hot looking piece of software simulation or arcade if you will, and a lot of fun. But when I played Gran Turismo 4 or Forza 2 what I really wanted was to get hold of the best cars. In the Gran Turismo and Forza franchises, at least in the beginning of the career mode, the other drivers behave like wagons in a train and also the game doesn't have crash physics. Well for starters, I've played and enjoyed 1980's Pole Position, 1990's Rage Racer and Gran turismo, 2000's GT3 & 4, Burnout Revenge and finally Forza Motorsport 2.
The sense of speed in this game just blows my mind away. Additionally, nobody communicates/talks to you any time in the game. How does that compare to GT's hardness. Also, customization is a double edge sword: Sometimes it helps you win the race and sometimes it doesn't.
How can I begin explaining the experience I've had with this game. What a rush. Some people say this game is not a true simulation because of the inaccurate physics , but then my answer is that your competing AI drivers in Grid are trying to win unlike GT's ones. Well I remember trying the International A licence in GT4, and it was plain ridiculous.
The physics in this game are amazing, and I just love how you can do many different styles of racing as well. I usually get pretty bored with games like forza and other racing games that strive to be realistic, but this game takes the win hands down.
I promise you wont be disappointed. Plenty of different tracks all around the world for different scenery, no unrealistic bs, but one thing they left out that I think they should add in the next one, if there is a next one is, customization of cars.
Once I started playing this game I couldn't stop playing it till I finished it, also this game gives you plenty of races before you can completely beat it, plus it doesn't give you the same style of race over and over so you don't get bored trying to do the same damn thing. In the end, if you are looking for a sweet racing game that will give you serious challenge, get this.
If you are looking for a more realistic racing game with more than the standard races, this is for you. I was particularly suprised to see that it had a demolition race, I also didn't expect it to have drifting.
I kinda have mixed feelings about that though cause I like how simple it is to get to racing but at the same time I wish I could mod stuff out.
Need For Speed Carbon is better.Burnout Paradise is better.Burnout Revenge for the Xbox is the GREATEST.havnt played Midnight Club LA or Need For Speed: Undercover.but im willing to bet they dont have this Skidd issue.iLL. if there was a Race on Dirt.your car would Spin out all the way to the finish line. the cars Look and Feel like real cars and handle with the proper weight of an actual car. i took some time out and actually tried to Drive Straight on the Dirt.and the car would either jerk to the Right or the Left regardless of how fast i was going. and it will take you 10 seconds just to get the car to drive straight again on the road.Overall, this is a Good racer.but gets Very repetitive and Boring like every other point A to B racer out there ie Project Gotham, Forza.and the Skid problem is just Too Much. i say rent it and see if you like it first. my ONLY problem with this game was that when you slide into the dirt.your car SPINS OUT when you try and drive back on the road. infact, the game looks like its DESIGNED to spin you out on Dirt surface rather youv slid into it or not.
i doubt you would even finish. it was Fun to play Online but thats about it. this is a Good racing game, the graphics are Beautifully next gen, the tracks look great, the Presentation is on point and the Music fits the theme. if you miss a turn and you hit dirt.and you stop.and try to drive again.your car will Skidd 1080 degrees for No reason. also, if you try and BUMP someone from behind.your car will spin out :l if you try and Sideswipe another driver.probably your AND their car will Spin Out uncontrollably.
Also in the game if u treat your car badly it will show, if you hit other cars or walls you can break parts of your car. CAUTION: THIS GAME IS REALISTIC AND TAKES A LITTLE GETTING USED TO. After you get used to the game it isnt so bad. In the game you are part of a 2 man team, when u get a teammate later, and you try to beat each of the 51 events to race the best team in the game, Ravenwest. But if you are a person who doesnt get easily frustrated because u arent instantly good at the game then this is the game for you. with that being said the game also has realistic crashes and car bodily damage.
At first you'll dread the 24 hour of Le Mans, i couldnt even finish the whole thing with out totaling my car or ending up in last. Grid is like playing a racing simulator like Forza but with the intensity of a racing game like Need for speed. As you beat more events u can earn money and buy more cars and better teammates. for example steering ability.
